Julia as an Individual

I (the website designer) first met Julia in 2008 at her CD-signing desk during the interval of a concert. Not only her ability, but her modesty about this ability was equally impressive. She was clearly also a good communicator and had a sociable interest in other people. As you get to know her better, these qualities become more evident.

Julia is highly motivated and practices the violin between five and six hours a day.

However, on the day of her grade 6 piano exam in 2007, she sounded as though she might not pass. Someone told her this and Julia doesn't like to be told she can't do something, so she practiced for over four hours that day, and not merely passed, but received the award for the highest mark for that exam in the UK that year.

When she is playing on the stage, it is quite hard to think of Julia as a child. However, at school you will see her running around and playing with other children. There are other strong musicians in Julia's age group at school, and she enjoys making music with them in chamber groups. With her intelligence and maturity, Julia also enjoys the company of adults.

People have commented that she is a joyful child and that she has a strong sense of humour.

Julia often spends her holidays in Korea, where she will spend time on the beach, meeting friends and playing with her family pets, as well as with her more intellectual hobbies such as art, reading and writing.
